Presenting Yi Ren Qigong Teachers

Ryan Lilly, LAc, EAMP, Certified Yi Ren® Qigong Instructor

Ryan Lilly is an acupuncturist, herbalist, and certified Yi Ren® Qigong instructor.  He has apprenticed and studied under the founder of Yi Ren® Qigong, Dr. Guan-Cheng Sun, PhD for over 10 years with a special interest in using qigong to support one’s healing and the discovery of one’s true self.

Ryan spent 7.5 years with the Institute of Qigong & Integrative Medicine combining qigong education, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine to support people’s healing and wellness.  He currently practices acupuncture with Virginia Mason’s Integrative Medicine team in downtown Seattle as well as teaches Chinese medicine at Bastyr University.  He also has extensive experience in oncology acupuncture as a previous member of the integrative medicine team at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Formerly known as Seattle Cancer Care Alliance).

Why Do I Practice Yi Ren Qigong and want to share it with the world?

When I went inward with my focus and started to cultivate qi and observe myself, I quickly realized that there is an enormous world inside to explore. I practice and teach Yi Ren Qigong because it provides a detailed map for exploration into this internal world, including, of course, revelations about my health, and who I truly am.  The practice of qigong and internal observation has opened up a lifelong journey of discovery and understanding that is endlessly fascinating and a real adventure. It has rewarded me for many years now, and I enjoy the process of showing others the way to empower themselves by means of Dr. Sun’s simple, elegant, and tremendously effective system of Qigong practice.

Here is some feedback from one of Ryan’s students:

“Ryan is very caring, positive and a great listener. . . like a chat with an old friend. He doesn’t rush. I have found his assessments to hit the mark and be helpful. He is really good about recommending what exercises to practice.”

Peiwen Wang Fannin, LAc, EAMP

Peiwen is nationally certified East Asian Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist. She has been practicing Tai Chi and other Chinese martial arts since the age of fifteen. In 2016, Peiwen started to study Qigong with Dr. Guan Cheng Sun, PhD. and became a certified Yi Ren® Qigong instructor in 2019.

Growing up in Taiwan, Peiwen was attracted to acupressure and Qigong Dao Yin by its effectiveness in promoting balancing and harmony and preventing illnesses. She graduated from Bastyr University with a Master’s Degree in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Working alongside her patients to achieve their optimal well-being, she provides individualized treatment plan using acupuncture, herbal medicine, and self-care tools such as Taichi and Qigong exercises.

Why Qigong?

Practicing Qigong daily is my favorite self-care routine that helps me tremendously physically, emotionally and spiritually. By focusing on breathing, developing mind body awareness, practicing on letting go and softening my mind, I learn to be present. Just being. To fully experience the now movement, single-minded, is incredibly powerful. This self- cultivation journey is full of joy and inspirations.

I now lead a weekly Qigong class that aims to build the foundation, enhancing our authentic Qi and inner strengths. It will mainly focus on Yi Ren Qigong Level 1 material with different focus and theme. I invite you to join the class and experience the wisdom from internal exploration.

Class time: Wednesday 7:30pm-8:30pm

Yi Ren Qigong Statement

I have been practicing Yi Ren Qigong consistently for eight years.  I fell in love with Yi Ren Qigong because the exercises helped me quickly feel my “Qi” or subtle energy.  As I continued to practice I became more aware of the Qi flow in my body and how my energy system interacts with the environment.  I now practice Yi Ren Qigong on a daily basis because it helps me move toward a greater sense of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

As a healthcare provider, I strive to have a person-centered approach where the patient is at the center of the decision-making process.  My primary role is to offer resources to help inform their decisions and improve their health.  I am excited to share Yi Ren Qigong with others as I believe it offers a comprehensive system of practices that help people cultivate health on all levels.  For individuals seeking mind-body support, there are exercises for cultivating and regulating the “Qi” flow of the organ systems.  For those interested in exploring more abstract concepts, there are meditations on virtues, universal laws and spiritual connections.
