A note about the use of Yi Ren Medical Qigong Manuals

The instructions and protocol included in these manuals are simply guidelines for students who are interested in studying and practicing Yi Ren Medical Qigong (YRMQ). YRMQ is the practice of cultivating inherent potential and well-being through a growing awareness and enhancement of “Qi”–a bioenergy-information system (BEIS) within us, as well as surrounding us. The term “Qi” in YRMQ, does not refer to oxygen-carbon dioxide exchange through breathing. The Qi in YRMQ refers to “authentic Qi” which refers to new and fresh vital energy produced by appropriate Yin-Yang interactions and communications, such as those between the hands or between the kidneys or between different Yin/Yang partnerships in the body. This fresh vital-energy-based practice is the unique and key feature of Yi Ren Medical Qigong practice, which is founded upon authentic qi activation.

Without authentic Qi activation, the instructions for these movements could simply be viewed as guidelines for gentle physical exercise, not for authentic Qi-based Qigong practice. So, authentic Qi-energy activation is the first step and precondition for students in gaining first-hand experience, as well as the benefits, of what this style of Medical Qigong is about.

It is necessary to complete the authentic Qi-energy activation training with a certified Yi Ren Medical Qigong instructor in order fully to practice YRMQ. In order to ensure the quality of Yi Ren Medical Qigong delivery, we recommend that people who are interested in Yi Ren Medical Qigong take a YRMQ Level One-authentic Qi-energy activation training course or intensive weekend seminar for initiating the internal energy system. For many individuals, who are simply practicing this on their own, it may take time to get the internal energy system activated, whereas energetic transmission from Certified Instructors will be very helpful for the internal energy system activation and initiation.

We emphasize that the YRMQ exercises, including breathing exercises, meditation, stretching, and physical movements, all be pursued with a heightened sense of feeling, focus, and awareness of the authentic Qi. This is what differentiates real Qigong from physical exercise. This state of being present with the Qi, in turn, plays an essential role in self-healing and self-care.

Yi Ren Qigong Level I: Internal Qi-Energy Activation

Qigong Manual 1, Internal Activation

Yi Ren Qigong Level I focuses on the natural steps of internal Qi-energy activation, cultivation, grounding and circulation. The purpose of these exercises is to activate and stabilize the energy field, increase your vital energy, reduce stress and to develop the body’s internal energetic communication system for greater awareness and harmony between the body, mind and spirit. We begin by building the sensation of Qi between the palms to experience our own vital energy. Then we activate “Life Gate” or battery pack of our energy system to begin cultivating our energy centers and grounding our energy. Next we learn exercises to connect with our autonomic nervous system to calm the nerves and the mind for self-healing. These exercises enable us to circulate energy around the Du and Ren pathways (otherwise known as the “Small Universe” or “Microcosmic Orbit”) in the Chinese acupuncture meridian system to improve the body’s energy flow and to eliminate energy blockages,

Yi Ren Qigong Level II: Activating & Cultivating the Internal Organ Meridians

Qigong Manual 2, Energizing the Zang Fu

This course introduces methods for developing the Zang Fu, or internal organ-related meridians specifically for becoming more aware of the relationship between these energy pathways and our emotions, memories and behaviors. How long have certain memories, emotions or behaviors been running you, perhaps without you knowing it? Are these emotions and patterns really you? The 12 internal organ pathways form the bridge between the mind and the memories, emotions, intrinsic intelligence and consciousness of the internal organs. Qi or vital energy is the key for the mind-body connection. With regular Yi Ren Qigong practice practitioners will become more aware of how thoughts, state of mind, emotional habits and behavior have a direct connection with their health and quality of life.

Yi Ren Qigong Level III: Activating & Cultivating the Extraordinary Meridians

Qigong Manual 3, Cultivating the Extraordinary Meridians
This course introduces methods for developing the awareness of the internal energy flow through the extraordinary meridians. This is a particularly nourishing series of exercises. The extraordinary meridians are associated with the body’s controlling systems: the brain, nervous and endocrine systems. By cultivating the Qi and energizing the extraordinary pathways, practitioners have greater opportunities to upgrade the functions of these systems.
